In Don's Words

What Started as The Swing Factory
Became Miyagi For Golf

Don came to a simple conclusion early in his teaching career: the golf swing is too complex to learn all at once. The same way circuit training in basketball breaks athletic movement into steps small enough to actually master, Don believed the swing could be made genuinely learnable by isolating its parts and training each one before connecting them. That idea became The Swing Factory — built on one core belief: you cannot learn proper motion and ball contact at the same time. They fight each other.

"My biggest coaching breakthrough came by accident — 22 beginners, a gym, and a parquet floor I refused to damage. The constraints changed how I taught that day. The results changed how I've taught ever since."
— Don Peterson

What those 22 students proved — without meaning to — was that removing ball contact from the learning process doesn't slow progress. It accelerates it. The swing develops cleaner, faster, with fewer bad habits baked in. That accidental breakthrough reshaped everything Don thought he knew about how golf is best taught, and The Swing Factory evolved into what it is today: Miyagi For Golf.
